The Greek Gods

Who are the Greek Gods?
The Greek Goddesses, according to the Greek mythology, are the Mount Olympus inhabitants and the rulers of the world.

What the Gods do?
They command the world controlling the weather, the seas, the Earth, the life and the death.

What do every god do?
Zeus: God of the sky and weather;
Poseidon: God of the ocean and the water;
Hades: God of the Underworld;
Hera: Goddess of the marriage and birth;
Demeter: Goddess of the nature;
Hestia: Goddess of the family;
Apolo: God of the light and the sun;
Ares: God of the war;
Dionisio: God of the wine and the parties;
Hermes: God of the communication;
Artemis: Goddess of the moon and the animals;
Athena: Goddess of the knowledge and the war;
Aphrodite: Goddess of love;

The story of the gods:
Cronos, the titan king, got cursed after murdering his father. The curse said that if he ever had children, they would murder him as he did before.
So when his first daughter came into the world, he ate her, doing the same thing with every single kid until Zeus.
Gaia was tired of losing her babies so instead of bringing Zeus to Cronos (what would result in his death), she gave him a rock under blankets.
Cronos are the rock without noticing that it wasn’t a baby and when Zeus reached 18 years old, he murdered his father, as the curse promised.
After that, the men chose between the skies, the ocean and the Underworld as their kingdoms, while the women were restricted to marriage and obedience.

The other gods:
According to the Greek Mythology, there are infinite Gods around the world, the most famous are:
Eros: Aphrodite’s sun also known as cupid;
Heracles: Bastard son of Zeus with a mortal, also known as his roman name, Hercules;
Persephone: Demeter’s daughter and queen of the underworld.

What is the difference between the Roman and the Greek Mythology?
The names, in the Roman Mythology the gods names are based on the Solar System and constellations, such as:
Zeus: Jupiter, the biggest planet;
Poseidon: Neptune, the blue planet;
Hades: Pluto, the smallest “planet”;
Cronos: Saturn, the second biggest planet;

The genealogy tree:
Cronos + Gaia = Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Demeter and Hestia.
Zeus + Hera = Hares.
Zeus + Demeter = Persephone.
Zeus = Athena, Apolo, Arthemis, etc.
Hera = Dionysus.
