Revolução Cubana

Cuba antes da Revolução era um país com dívidas a pagar com os EUA, pois para conseguir sua independência precisou da ajuda deles. Em 1901 foi imposta a Emenda Platt, que possibilitava os EUA intervir nos interesses dos dois países caso tivessem com problemas. 

No governo de Fulgencio Batista(1940-1945), as economias se aproximaram cada vez mais, porém a economia de cuba era voltada para o setor agrícola com a maior parte da produção era cana-de-açúcar sendo exportada para os EUA. As indústrias, usinas e refinarias eram dos Estado Unidos, havia também cassinos, controlados pela máfia, e à prostituiçao, o que chamavam bastante atenção dos turistas. 

Como a distribuição de renda e empregos era bem desigual, muitas pessoas estavam descontentes com o governo o que gerou mobilizações comandadas por Che Guevara e pelos irmãos Fidel e Raúl Castro em 1953, eles tinham como objetivo derrubar o governo. Tentaram um ataque ao Quartel de Moncada em Santiago, mas foi um fracasso e os envolvidos foram exilados no México.

Algum tempo depois organizaram uma nova missão com 80 homens em 1956, eles se instalaram no lado oeste da ilha  combatendo tropas do governo usando a estratégia de guerrilha. Eles também tiveram apoio nas cidades e, em 1° de Janeiro de 1959 conseguiram realizar um golpe de estado consolidando a vitória dos revolucionários. 

O governo que se instalou era socialista e autoritário o que gerou confusões entre as relações entre Cuba e os EUA. Mesmo o novo governo sendo socialista a população continuou pobre e ainda havia muita desigualdade.

Cuba before the revolution was a country with a lot of debt with the USA, because they needed their help to get independence. In 1901 was imposed the Platt Amendment,  that let the USA intervene in the interests of both countries if they had any problems.

In the Fulgencio Batista government(1940-1945), their economies have come closer, Cuba’s economy  was focused on the agricultural sector that sugarcane was the main product exported to the USA.  The industries, plants and refineries were from USA, there also was casinos controlled by the mafia, and prostitution, which drew a lot of attention from tourists.

As there was a lot of inequality, many people unhappy with the government created mobilizations commanded by Che Guevara and the brothers Raúl and Fidel Castro, their goal was to overthrow the government. Tried an attack  on the Moncada Barracks in Santiago, but it failed and those involved were exiled in Mexico.

After a while they organized a new mission with 80 men in 1956, they settled on the west side of the island, fighting government troops using guerrilla strategy. They also had support in the cities and on January 1st of 1959 they got a achieved  consolidating the victory of the revolutionaries. 

The new government was socialist and authoritarian which created troubles between the USA and Cuba. But even though the new government was socialist the population kept poor and there still was inequality.
