10x = 35.50

10x = 1750

x = 1750/10

x = 175

            De acordo com o cálculo, quando a mesma padaria receber 50 clientes, ganhará R$175,00.

Rule of three

            One of the most used calculations in mathematics is the rule of three, whenever we have two different variables (which can be mass, speed, temperature, distance, area, length, etc.), three known values and one we want to know, it is possible to use the rule of three.

            There is the rule of three simple and compound, but we will work only with the simple, which should look like this:

            Supposing that a bakery earns R$35,00 when it receives 10 customers on the day. How many reais will be received when receiving 50 customers?

Money      Customers

   35              10

     x                 50

The first thing we need to pay attention to is if the relationship is directly proportional, that is, if increasing the amount of money also increases the number of customers. When the relationship is directly proportional (like the example above), the method used is cross-multiplication.

10x = 35.50

10x = 1750

x = 1750/10

x = 175

            According to the calculation, when the same bakery receives 50 customers, it will earn R$175,00.
