Atomic Models

Today we are going to talk about our experience with the atomic models in Chemistry. There are four of them.

The first one is Dalton’s atomic model, similarly represented by “pool ball”, because he thought that the atoms were massive, indivisible and indestructible spheres.

The second one is Tomson’s model, similarly represented by “raisin pudding”, because he found out that the atom was a positive charge sphere with negatively charged scattered electrons, which represented the raisins.

The third one is Rutherfors’s model, similarly represented by “Solar System”, because the sun represented the nucleus, and the electrons the planets, and through an experiment he found that there were a positive charge nucleus, where the protons were, and an electrosphere where electrons with negative charge were found.

And the fourth one is Bohr’s atomic model, which improved Rutherford’s model. In this model Bohr stated that the electrons moved only a few regions around the nucleus, always in circular orbits, and that each orbit corresponded to an energy level, and stated that the electrons when receiving energy jumped from one layer to another, moving away from the nucleus, moving to a higher energy level, and when returning to a lower level, lost energy in the form of light, just as we observed in the fireworks.

We hope you enjoyed it!! See you in the next text !
