Durante os anos de 1939 e 1945, a Segunda Grande Guerra era a nova situação mundial que a população tinha que enfrentar. Neste mesmo período, aqui no Brasil, o governo de Vargas comandava a todos com suas políticas centralizadoras e autoritárias. Mas, qual é a relação entre esses dois acontecimentos?
O Brasil se manteve neutro no início do conflito, já que tinha relações com os países do Eixo e com os Aliados, que se enfrentavam na Europa, durante a Segunda Guerra.
O ataque japonês a Pearl Harbor nos Estados Unidos, em 1941, desencadeou a entrada do Brasil na Segunda Grande Guerra juntamente ao seu principal aliado econômico: os EUA, quando o Brasil declarou guerra ao Eixo, após o afundamento de navios brasileiros por submarinos alemães, enviando cerca de 25 mil soldados para a batalha.
Mas apesar do orgulho brasileiro pela atitude de Vargas diante da guerra, isso trouxe uma contradição, já que tínhamos um líder/governo autoritário que havia enviado soldados para lutar contra governos autoritários, a favor da democracia.
A guerra trouxe diversas mudanças, principalmente com as relações do Brasil e do mundo. Acreditamos que esse desenvolvimento foi muito importante, porque apesar de todos os acontecimentos, tudo isso trouxe um outro olhar do Brasil para o mundo. Com o fim da guerra, o Brasil também vivenciou o fim do Estado Novo, o que trouxe um fim para a ditadura Vargas e uma nova versão de vida para os brasileiros.
During the years of 1939 and 1945, the Second World War was the new situation of the world that the population had to face. At the same time, in Brazil, the authoritarian government of Getúlio Vargas commanded everyone with his strict policies, but what is the relationship between these two events?
The relationship of these two begins with Brazil keeping itself neutral in the conflict since it already had relationships with the countries of the Axis and the Allies, whose two enemy groups battled in World War II.
After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in the USA, in 1941, it triggered the entry of Brazil in the Second World War, together with its principal ally, the USA.
Until then the situation was tense, with Brazil imposing war on the Axis. After the sinking of Brazilian ships by german submarines, and sending around 25 thousand soldiers to the battle.
But despite the brazilian pride in Vargas’ attitude towards the war, it brought a contradiction: an authoritarian líder/ government would fight against another authoritarian government in favor of democracy.
The war brought several chances, especially with the relations between Brazil and the world. We believe that this development was very important because, despite all the events, all of this brought a different perspective from Brazil to the world. With the end of the war, Brazil experienced the end of The New State, which brought an end to the dictatorship of Vargas and a new life for the Brazilian people.
